Thomas Ueberschlag : From Tour Photo to Kids & Sparks: My Journey in Capturing Stories and Inspiring Youth

I began my artistic journey with drawing and painting, exploring colors, textures, and stories on canvas. In 2009, I discovered photography, a medium that allowed me to capture life, people, and the world with immediacy and depth.

I traveled extensively by bicycle across Europe, discovering cultures, landscapes, and human stories that shaped my perspective and fueled my desire for authentic connection. It was during these trips with young people that I first began exploring videography.

I have led several photography collaborations across different themes, worked as a photographer and videographer at Baselworld, and had the opportunity to work as an on-set photographer for film productions in Paris, an enriching and highly formative experience.

In 2011, I founded Tour Photo, a project that ran successfully for five years, bringing 1,500 people together through photography and teaching me the power of storytelling and human connection. The very first Tour Photo was done with my three children, who experienced extraordinary, formative adventures. Being surrounded by professionals inspired them deeply and helped shape their future — today they are highly creative individuals.

This transformative power is exactly what lies at the heart of Kids & Sparks, now dedicated to offering the same opportunities to children with fewer resources.

Today, I focus on Kids & Sparks, a new initiative to empower children and youth. Through workshops and experiences, kids can express themselves, gain confidence, and share their stories, while fostering awareness, joy, and respect for our planet.

With Kids & Sparks, I hope to continue living meaningful moments, exchanging ideas, and creating human connections that inspire, nurture creativity, and leave a positive impact, one story, one photo, one experience at a time.
